Afleet Leggacy

IÕm saddened to announce that my racehorse (or at least the one I owned 5% of) has passed away.  She came down with a bad case of pneumonia and unfortunately had to be euthanized. She never made it to the racetrack other than for a few workouts.  She had started training in late June but was not so keen on it and was sent out to a farm in Saratoga for some time off.  The plan was to get her back into training at the beginning of November with the hopes that she would then be ready for it.  The original time table to resume training, after being sent to the farm, had been the beginning of October but that was pushed back a couple of times until ultimately the November time period was given.  There is no way to know if she would have been ready for the training come November but of course that is irrelevant now anyway.

Since she will never make it onto the racetrack, I can only hope that this small memorial will give her some recognition in place of the racing that career that will never be.  Her sire was Northern Afleet and her dam was My Girl LeggsÕ by Carborundum. Farewell old friend.

For all those wondering what happened to my investment, it is being transferred over to a new horse named Keystone Native.  There was mortality insurance on the late Afleet Leggacy which would have covered a good amount of my initial investment but since Afleet Leggacy was my first horse with West Point Thoroughbreds, they have kindly decided to transfer my full investment amount over to Keystone Native.  The word is that Keystone Native could race at Aqueduct as early as the beginning of November.  Right now they have tentatively indicated that he could debut in a MSW at Aqueduct on November 11.  I will keep everyone posted when I find out more details.
