In the beginning of July, 2006 I will be embarking on a cross country journey with the intention to see more of the enormous, wonderful country I live in. The first stop is likely to be the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, OH or the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in Cleveland, OH (not exactly the scenic things that inspired this journey but they are on the way and I'm interested in seeing them anyway). Moving out of Ohio I intend to travel through Chicago (possibly with a layover) then traverse Wisconsin and Minnesota heading toward the first National Park on my route: Theodore Roosevelt National Park. This is scheduled to be the first of many National Parks I intend to visit on my odyssey. I hope to see the natural beauty this country still possesses which is often forgotten or never experienced by the millions of people, like me, who grow up in the New York metropolitan area. Don't get me wrong, NY is great, but no concrete structure that takes years to build can possibly compare to some of the best naturally occurring geography that has been evolving for millions of years.
I hope to post pictures and stories detailing the areas I visit along the way. Perhaps a photograph I take will inspire someone to take a vacation to one of the parks I visit. Well, maybe not, but in any event I hope to bring to you the beauty of the country that not all of us get the opportunity to visit for one reason or another.
Moving on from Theodore Roosevelt National Park I intend to head towards Glacier National Park in Montana and then continue to the West Coast via the northern part of the United States. For now my return trip home is scheduled to be through the middle of America but who knows what will happen...
