Day 27 - Larned, KS
And now I’ve seen everything.  I just watched a guy close his tab at the bar and pay by check. Weird.  And when I say bar I mean the local VFW.  Since I went out after midnight the only two places open were the VFW and the American Legion.  Only one or two other bars exist in town and they close at midnight, which I guess means they are garbage anyway.  By the way, I’m in Larned, Kansas.  I left Denver in the early afternoon after getting denied at the US Mint.  Apparently a reservation for the tour is required in advance (which I didn’t have) so ‘The Man’ wouldn’t let me in.  Of course the gift shop was open but in silent protest I didn’t buy anything after their no entry folly.  I cruised around downtown for a little while (since I had already paid for parking) but the only place I went into was Taco Bell.  Then I hopped in my car to head towards Kansas.  While still in Colorado though I did make another stop when I saw a Sonic.  I wasn’t really that hungry but seeing that gem made me hungry enough.  America’s favorite drive-in did not let me down.  I had a breakfast sandwich (despite it being 3 pm I could get a breakfast sandwich because they serve breakfast all day.  I always wished McDonald’s would take the cue but they are idiots.  I’m uncertain how they are even in business anymore but that’s a story for another day) and some popcorn chicken and rolled on afterwards.  I drove for a long time and eventually stopped here in Larned.  I’ll probably head towards Wichita tomorrow but we’ll see what the day brings.

PS. If you’ve emailed me and I haven’t responded yet please accept my apologies but I’m a little behind.  Thanks for your patience and your emails though - I appreciate them.
