Day 1 - The journey begins
My journey is finally underway.  It began this morning when I left Pleasantville at 8:15 am.  There were many hours of driving but the good news is that Pennsylvania is behind me.  Not that I don’t like the state but it takes so long to get through that you don’t feel like you’re ever making any progress as you drive and drive and drive only to discover that, yep, you’re still in PA.   Anyway, right before crossing the border to Ohio I stopped in Sharon, PA at the first Quaker, Steak and Lube.  The wings were delicious as usual.  I’m sure this will be the first of many exotic chain restaurants not found in NY that I will eat at before the journey is over.
So I made it to Canton, OH by 4pm and went to the Football Hall of Fame.  It was pretty good.  Not too overwhelming with a ton of stuff but enough to keep you interested and not make you feel like you got completely ripped off (although it does cost $15 to get in).  Now I’m in Cuyahoga Falls, OH for the night, which is about 30 min south of Cleveland.  I went to an outdoor concert to see the Cleveland Orchestra perform but after being there for about 30 min the clouds moved in and all the people in the uncovered cheap seats had to leave (me included obviously).  The fireworks show scheduled for afterwards, which was my main motivation for going, I’m sure was cancelled also; bummer. I had wanted to try to take some time lapse photography of the fireworks but I guess that will have to wait.
I drove about 500 miles today and now am just about ready to call it a day.  I plan to hit the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame tomorrow morning then head onto Chicago.  I just took a look at the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame website and it looks like Dylan is the summer exhibit. That means that the entire third and fourth floor will be devoted entirely to him; jackpot!!!
