KEYSTONE NATIVE FINISHES FIFTH; FUTURE UNCERTAIN

Keystone Native broke from the 10th post and set the early pace in race 9 at Philadelphia Park on Sunday, May 13.  After setting early fractions of 22.21 and 45.80 he eventually tired in the stretch and finished a decent fifth behind three favorites and a semi-long shot.  Without having seen the race I donÕt know what the diagnosis will be for the young whippersnapper.  Ideally they had wanted to race him in a 5 furlong race which certainly would have suited him better than this 6 furlong affair.  He appears to have run a better race than his previous starts before the gelding but I donÕt know if it was improved or encouraging enough to keep him in training.  I will have to wait to hear from West Point to get some feedback from them and trainer Guadalupe Preciado. For now, I wait.

As always, click here to see the correspondence from West Point Thoroughbreds (the management company handling the young gelding) regarding his brief but storied career thus far.  For other information on Keystone Native (including pedigree, racing statistics, etc) click here.
